On November 15, 2023, at the PLDT Hall, University President Dr. Winston Conrad B. Padojinog and UA&P Development Board Vice Chairman Mr. Francisco Sebastian set the stage for the first-ever university-wide online fundraising activity. Dubbed “Dragon Race,” the pioneering initiative unites students, alumni, faculty, staff, and parents in a collective mission to provide support for the University’s major projects.
In its inaugural year, the chosen beneficiary of the Race is the Phoenix Scholarship Endowment (PSE), an institutional scholarship founded in 2023 to benefit financial assistance scholars and merit scholars with financial needs.
“Every scholarship is a seed planted,” said Dr. Padojinog, encouraging the University’s stakeholders to take the opportunity to extend a helping hand to financially challenged scholars.
Mr. Sebastian stressed the significance of the University’s motto, UNITAS, urging the community to embody a spirit of unity and bayanihan. Dragon Race, he said, is an occasion for all UA&P stakeholders to help in nation-building and be “heroes of the community” by supporting scholars.
Teams of alumni, students, employees, and parents can participate in Dragon Race by conceiving and implementing creative fundraising campaigns. Teams with the highest funds raised shall receive cash prizes: PhP 15,000 for 1st place, PhP 10,000 for 2nd place, and PhP 7,000 for 3rd place.
Teams can register on the Give to UA&P website from November 15 to December 15. The race period is from January 15 to April 15, 2024, with the awarding ceremony scheduled for April 2024.
Dragon Race is sponsored by UA&P alumni, parents, and service providers. Early bird sponsors include Megaforce Security Group, Sionil Builders Corporation, U-Bix Corporation Service Masters, and Central Beanery Coffee Co. Additional sponsors are expected to join in supporting the race.
