GESG donates to Dr. Placido L. Mapa, Jr. Scholarship Endowment

UA&P signed a Deed of Donation (DOD) with Mr. Francisco C. Sebastian, Chairman of Global Executive Solutions Group (GESG) last June 26, 2023, recognizing GESG as a Gold Donor to the Dr. Placido L. Mapa, Jr. Scholarship Endowment.

Mr. Sebastian gave a personal contribution on behalf of GESG in honor of the late Dr. Placido L. Mapa, Jr., who has been a key figure in shaping a generation of leaders and executives, especially in the banking and financial sector. Mr. Sebastian, who currently serves as Chairman of GT Capital Holdings Inc. and Vice Chairman of Metropolitan Bank &Trust Company, had the privilege of working directly with Dr. Mapa under the Metrobank Group and under the University of Asia and the Pacific Foundation Inc. as board members.

Through the donation, UA&P will be able to continue making a significant impact in preparing future leaders. Grantees of the scholarship endowment will be given 100% coverage of tuition and miscellaneous fees, a monthly stipend of P8,000, an internet allowance of P1,000/month, a laptop, and one-on-one mentorship with a member of the UA&P Board of Trustees (BOT). The Dr. Placido L. Mapa, Jr. Scholarship Grant is open to all incoming college and junior college students with a high school average of at least 90%, possess exemplary leadership credentials and show potential to be trailblazers and catalysts for change in the community.

Established in 2005, GESG specializes in meeting the mid to senior-level executive search requirements of leading organizations in industries such as FMCG, pharmaceutical and healthcare services, telecommunications and financial technology, banking, and retail. They also provide talent mapping services and staff augmentation services through People Serve Cooperative. GESG President and CEO Ray Silvestre N. Canilao, a graduate of UA&P’s Master in Business Economics program, is responsible for growing the company from a small headhunting firm to a leading executive search firm in the Philippines.
